Seymour’s industrial shop is getting a new boss.
The Jackson County Industrial Development Corporation named Trevor Lane executive director. He takes over in early September. Jim Plump, who has run JCIDC since it was founded in 1984, retires at the end of September after 42 years.
Lane is not a stranger. Jennings County native. Twenty-one years at the Indiana Economic Development Corporation as Southern Region Attractions Director. The county’s own numbers credit him with work that helped land more than 1,700 jobs and $635 million in local capital investment, including names people in Seymour actually recognize: Aisin, Cummins, Guardian Bikes, Valeo, Vital Farms.
Labor Day weekend traffic on I-65 will still be the thing most drivers remember. The thing that pays for the next decade is quieter: who is on the phone when a plant wants another building. Plump’s exit is the end of an era. Lane’s job is to make sure it does not become the end of the pipeline.
